Play with clay! Get your hands dirty with local artist Cass in this beginner ceramic vase class! You’ll learn basic clay slab-building techniques and underglaze application, then experiment with handle shapes and color combinations to create your own unique piece. Cass will begin with a demonstration and then assist students as they build their own vase. After a half-hour break to allow vases to firm up, we’ll reconvene to apply colorful underglaze! Bring a snack and stretch your legs while shopping SMC! Following class, Cass will bisque fire and apply clear glaze to pieces. Students will be contacted after the final glaze firing to pick up finished work at South Main Creative. Ages 12+, please.

Be sure to wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty and/or bring an apron!

Materials fee covers: cost of clay and glaze used, access to tools, and Cass’ labor outside of class glazing and firing pieces!
